2011-2012 Board of Directors 

Comprised of business professionals, community leaders and people who have a personal relationship with someone who has Down syndrome with a new addition to the board this year of a self-advocate!

The board provides leadership decision-making, guidance to staff, fundraising support and specific expertise related to their personal and professional backgrounds. 

Meetings are held bi-monthly and both board and members actively participate in a variety of committees.  If you would like to learn more about serving on the Board of Directors or becoming more involved in the committees please contact us at ribboninfo@madss.org. Staff

Sterling Lynk: An experienced non-profit leader, entrepreneur and graduate of UW-Madison, Sterling joined MADSS in April, 2011 as its Executive Director.  Before coming to MADSS, he served as the Director of Operations at the Urban League of Greater Madison.  Sterling has been locally and nationally acknowleged foor his leadership and  service by the Aspen Institute, the National Urban League, In Business Magazine and Madison College.

Jackie Carter: A certified, licensed, and registered speech-language pathologist and dyslexia specialist, and owner of Communication Sensation, LLC.  She and her husband are parents to teenager with Down syndrome and four other grown children.

Suzan Cook: Over 20 years of organizational development, grant writing and fundraising experience with an active volunteer record within the community.

Mary Frahm: Parent of an adult with Down syndrome and Realtor at Restaino & Associates Realtors.

Mike Garibay: Parent of a child with Down syndrome and a Sales Manager with Quantum Devices, Inc.  He wants to help MADSS expand its services to individuals and families impacted by Down syndrome.

Tina Gefke: Parent of a child with Down syndrome and employed at CUNA.

Heather Huismann: Student at MATC, self-advocate and Special Olympics athlete and coach.

Tom Purnell: Parent of a child with Down syndrome and a professor of English at UW-Madison.

Brenda Ray: Parent of a child with Down syndrome and a Community Care representative with UW Health Medical Foundation.  She is leading an initiative to bring more parent advocacy to the care of individuals with Down syndrome.

Ann Rule: Parent of a child with Down syndrome and a Senior Brand Manager with Spectrum Brands/Rayovac.

Patrick Ryan: Parent of a child with Down syndrome and co-owner of Ryan Brothers Ambulance.
