The mission of the Madison Area Down Syndrome Society (MADSS) is to provide support to individuals with Down syndrome and their families while advancing acceptance, inclusion and opportunity for individuals with Down syndrome in South Central Wisconsin.
Our vision is to create a world where individuals with Down syndrome are valued as self-sufficient and contributing members of the greater society.
"Mike has developed lifelong friends as part of the many activities offered by the young adults’ group. These friends have become a cornerstone of his life and have helped in shaping his self-esteem. It is difficult to imagine how different things would be without the friends that Mike has met as a result of MADSS, not just for him, but for our entire family"
— Katy Hager, Sister to Mike
Our informal group came together in 2003 by officially becoming a non-profit. For ten years, the group was focused on fraternal support in the Greater Madison Area, giving area families the chance to form connections and share resources. Fifteen years later, MADSS has expanded to offer a robust menu of programs and services for families throughout Dane County, and is now focused on expanding our work to Rock, Jefferson, Green, Lafayette, Iowa, Sauk, and Columbia Counties.
Board of Directors
MADSS partners with the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin (DSAW) to manage the back-end operations of our organization.
